Vanity Fair does Depp!
Oooooh Johnny!
I’m so glad Public Enemies is about to open, as it means that the next weeks will be filled with more and more Depp - and really, wouldn’t couldn’t use more Johnny?! The new Vanity Fair hits the newstands on the 9th, and the preview of all the deliciousness is sprinked all over the internets. In the interview, Johnny talks about how he likes to unwind far from Hollywood, and be normal with his family - on his own island.
His own ISLAND, ya’ll.
Dep owns a 45 acre private Bohamian Island called “Little Hall’s pond Cay”. We’ve all seen his lovely yacht, the Vajoliroja, which Johnny uses to bring himself and his family to the island. “I don’t think I’d ever seen any place so pure and beautiful.” He likes to spend time there to decompress, and return to normalcy - “Escapism is survival to me.” There’s even a place where one can snorkal, called “heath’s Place” after Heath Ledger.
“Whenever I was getting frustrated about being ‘novelty boy’ and making movies, I told myself, Calm down. I can come down here and disappear. I spent the Christmas season here with Vanessa and the kids. You can feed hot dogs to the nurse sharks in the Exumas [the out islands of the Bahamas] – but it’s best to not swim when doing it.”
While on the island, Johnny gets to indulge in his other hobbies - reading, playing the guitar and painting. He even laughs as he admits “Money doesn’t buy you happiness. But it buys you a big enough yacht to sail right up to it.”
Amen Johnny! Now, I just need to win the lottery, or a visit to said island. It’s not too much to ask, right? See below for the rest of the photos!
