Location found for Alice in Wonderland!
Director Tim Burton has decided on a location for the filming of the upcoming Alice in Wonderland, due for release in 2010 in 3d, according to the Telegraph. The Antony House in Torpoint Cornwall is going to be the outside set for this adaptation of the book by Lewis Carroll. Home of the Carew Pole family for the past 600 years, the 18th century house, garden and a woodland will be closed to the public from September 1 through October 14th for the filming to take place.
Rebecca Miller of the National Trust said they are over the moon to have the house chosen as the location. “One of the reasons it was chosen was because it’s a hidden gem - it’s one of the trust’s lesser kown properties and they felt this fit in very well with the feel of the film.”
Spokesman Harvey Edgington added that the Trust happily provides locations when possible to a variety of films, tv, documentaries and commercials. The filming of Alice in Wonderland will help raise funds for conservation work and contribute to the local economy. Many were said to have rushed to a series of auditions to be extras - over 3000 of them showed up in hopes of napping one of the 250 places.
Austrailian newcomer Mia Wasikowsk will play Alice, and Johnny Depp is reported to play the Madd Hatter, though we still don’t have the details for that - if it’ll be motion capture, or live action. Either way, with Burton at the helm and Johnny involved, it’s sure to be an Alice in Wonderland like we’ve never seen before!

I can totally imagine the whole movie being filmed here. And yes. Johnny really being in character as usual. That’ll rock.
